HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A local foodie and community volunteer is looking for help, and the Houston food community is serving it up.

Liz Fenton, 33, has been diagnosed with a rare neurological condition and a spinal cord tumor. She is now partially paralyzed and will need painful surgery and chemotherapy to treat her condition.

"She has this passion for life and this passion for food. It's contagious. Everyone loves her," explained Fenton's friend, Jenny Wang.

Fenton is well-known among the Houston food community. She's worked at several local restaurants and volunteered her time for many benefit dinners.

So, when the word spread of her condition, those same restaurants got involved.

"That's the thing about this city," explained Underbelly owner Chris Shepherd. "You move better faster and stronger together than you do separate. Everybody wants to support each other."

Houston's top chefs are coming together to hold a benefit dinner on Sunday, December 6.
