Tips on how to sell your home quickly.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KTRK) -- The housing market is hot right now. That means you'll need to move faster than normal.

Redfin said the average home sold last month went under contract in 60 days. That's eight days faster than a year ago. What's more -- 15 percent of homes listed for sale last month were sold within two weeks.

That's the fastest since Redfin started tracking times in 2010.

Countertops are popular, with granite being a big seller and painted cabinets are preferred over stained cabinets.

It seems the consensus with experts is to paint your house, re-work or work on your kitchen and do something with your master bedroom.

"In the master bath, updating again, the shower, the tub, countertops, cabinets, really doing a full gut," said Shannon Slavens, owner of SRS designs.

Keep in mind, that could cost between $10,000 and $50,000 and take about a month or two to complete.

De-cluttering your home is something that shouldn't cost thousands of dollars but can make a big impact.

"That is space management. You know, everyone's screaming 'I haven't gotten enough space in the kitchen or in the bathroom,' said Karl Champley, host of Wasted Spaces on the DIY Network.

"I kind of want to talk about that, because the fact of the matter is we have, we just have it full of crap! We got a lot of clutter in our homes so if we can kind of eradicate that and redesign and reorganize the space, we can nip that in the bud," said Champley.
