Like a lot of moms, I'm always looking for quick and easy snacks for my son, especially when we're on the go. Crackers are definitely a favorite, but with all of that sodium and all of those extra ingredients I get a little concerned every time I open the bag. I decided to try and make my own, and I'm pleased to say they are so delicious, I have to put them away so I don't eat them all!

You only need three ingredients!

2 cups Cheddar Cheese

1 cup Rolled oats (or Whole Wheat flour)

6 tbs Butter

tsp (salt optional)

Other:

Cookie sheet

Flour

Parchment paper

Rolling pin

Cookie Cutters

Directions:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • I am very cost conscious, so I'm using rolled oats, since that's what I have on hand, but you can use whole wheat flour if you have it.
  • If you are using oats, put them in a food processor and pulse until it's a fine powder. Add the cheese and salt if you want and continue to pulse. You can also add garlic or any other herbs or spices you would like. Once mixed, add the butter until it forms a ball.
  • Now you want to roll it out. You can use parchment paper and some flour. Using cookie cutters, cut out shapes and put them onto your cookie sheet. My son loves airplanes, so I used an airplane cutter and number cutters. My crackers will be a little bigger than usual.
  • Bake on 400 for 10-15 minutes until crisp and enjoy!
