Woman killed in hit-and-run
Police are looking for a driver that hit a woman and drove away from the scene

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman was killed just a few feet away from her father last night, but he had no idea his daughter was dead until someone knocked on his door. Now, police want to find her killer.

Albert Jackson says he was inside his home in northwest Houston in the 4200 block of Sherwood near Helberg when he received a knock on his door that would change his life.

It was from a neighbor who came to tell him his 51-year old daughter Mary was dead.

Police say Mary was crossing the street when a speeding car slammed into her. She died just a few feet away from her father's home.

Right now, police only have a vague description of the driver's vehicle.

HPD Sgt. James Roque said, "Possibly a Ford Escort, tan or beige in color with a black hood and a black trunk it will have front end damage."

Police are asking for your help. If you see a car matching that description, call police.
