Tips needed in fatal hit and run crash in SE Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police need your help finding a man who might have information about a deadly crash in southeast Houston.

Investigators say Martin Ayala Sanchez, 31, may be the owner of a blue Ford Mustang involved in a wreck that killed 19-year-old Kevin Joel Berrios-Rivera.

HPD says Berrios-Rivera was among five people who were inside a burgundy Scion traveling southbound around 10pm on June 23 on Galveston Road near Edgebrook.

The driver of the Scion was attempting to make a left turn when the unknown driver of the Mustang struck the back of their vehicle.

All five passengers in the Scion were injured and rushed to the hospital. Berrios-Rivera, who was sitting in the back of the Scion, died from his injuries.

Investigators say Sanchez may have information about the wreck, and that is why they need the public's help finding him.
