HISD considers redistricting
Ten elementary schools would be affected.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston ISD board members are discussing a proposal to adjust attendance boundaries for 10 elementary schools.

The proposal affects current boundaries in the northwest, south belt area and the 288 corridor.

Schools affected include:

Parents are keeping a close eye on the potential changes.

Shawn Culpepper lives in the Oak Forest area with her family. Her children are zoned for Katherine Smith Elementary, but would go to Lulu Stevens Elementary if the proposal passes.

"I just hear from neighbors and family that Stevens is headed in a very positive direction," Culpepper said, "Just that there's a lot of parental involvement. So just from that standpoint alone, it's positive for us."

The board meeting started at 5pm.
