Having a healthy love life
Studies show keeping your body healthy can also help keep your love life healthy

Staying healthy can keep your love life healthy, and it's all about your lifestyle choices, according to expert Dr. Sharon Bergquist.

Berquist, of the Emory School of Medicine, says keeping your love life going strong whether you're in your twenties or your eighties is all about eating the right foods -- and avoiding the wrong ones, focusing on diet and exercise, and avoiding developing chronic diseases.

But, how?

Bergquist suggests a Mediterranean diet, which focuses on fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants that translate to better circulation. She also suggests foods, such as fish and walnuts, that have those good Omega-3 fats. Lean protein such as turkey or chicken, she adds, can also help.

You can also help yourself by avoiding foods that are high in fat, sugar and simple carbohydrates.

As for exercise, at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity should be observed at least five days a week.

And finally, avoid developing chronic diseases such as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Bergquist said, "If we follow a lifestyle that would allow us to prevent these chronic diseases we wouldn't see the degree of sexual dysfunction that we're currently seeing."
