HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Family and friends on Friday said goodbye to the Houston-area teenager who died after getting a brain-eating amoeba.

Michael John Riley Junior died August 30 after a weeklong battle against the disease.

Doctors believe he contracted the amoeba while swimming at Sam Houston State Park.
