HCSO investigating after deputy allegedly punched chase suspect
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office says it has launched an internal affairs investigation after one of its deputies seemingly punched an in-custody suspect following a wild high-speed chase.
An HCSO spokesperson says the employee in question is a 10-year veteran who is assigned to the United States Marshal's Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Mohmed Ahmed Abu-Shlieba, is accused of leading deputies on a chase through three counties that at times topped 100 miles per hour. Abu-Shlieba is accused of shoplifting in the Galleria, which started the nearly 80-mile chase along Post Oak. Officers say he was driving the stolen Dodge Challenger and stopped in Jefferson County when he was apparently out of gas.
SkyEye cameras captured the takedown in a field after he was spotted talking on a cell phone.

In court on Thursday, a judge denied Abu-Shlieba bond due to outstanding warrants in another court. Abu-Shlieba has a criminal history including aggravated sexual assault, theft and carrying a prohibited weapon.
