Ghost on camera
Police say this surveillance video seems to show a ghost walking around a secured area of their police station

ESPANOLA, NM (KTRK) -- Some New Mexico police officers say ghosts are real, and they have the video to prove it.

Last Saturday, officer Karl Romero was watching surveillance cameras around the station overnight when he saw something walking around a secured area.

"At first I thought it was a podilla, a fly or moth, then I saw the legs and it was a human. But not a real human. No. A ghost," Officer Romero told ABC affiliate KOAT.

Romero reported the strange sighting to his supervisors, but when they inspected they area they didn't find anything.

Detectives said there is no way in or out of the secured area without the gates opening and an alarm sounding, so they have no explanation as for what was seen on the video tape.

"It walks through the old transport cages," Romero points out. "There's not a way for it to get through, but it walks through that."

Turns out there are a lot of ghost stories around that station. Other officers have reported hearing or seeing strange things or felt someone 'breathing down their necks'.

"I do believe it was something," Romero said. "It was hard to say but I do believe in ghosts."

Police said as far as they know the building is not on a burial ground and no inmates have ever died at the police station, but there have been some unsolved murders nearby.
