GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- A new mom has a traffic stop and a police officer to thank for helping to bring her little one into the world.

At about 3:20pm Monday, Galveston Police Officer Robert Cantu was on a traffic stop in the 900 block of 43rd Street when someone flagged him down about a woman in labor. Other officers nearby responded to assist while Officer Cantu called EMS to the scene.

Before paramedics could arrive, Sergeant Sean Migues and Officer Kevin McGrath assisted Officer Cantu with delivering a baby boy. EMS arrived and transported the mother and baby to John Sealy Emergency Room where they are expected to be in good health.
