Thief grabs cash register
The heist at the Friendswood Chevron was captured on surveillance video.

FRIENDSWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- Police have released clear video of a guy swiping a cash register at a Friendswood convenience store in hopes you can help them find him.

It happened back on August 16 at around 9:30pm. The man entered the Chevron store at 1651 W. Parkwood Avenue and approached the counter. Once there, police say he asked the cashier for Marlboro cigarettes.

As soon as the cashier turned his back, the suspect ripped the cash register free and took off with it.

Surveillance video captured images of the getaway vehicle outside the store.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build with black and light facial hair including a goatee. The suspect had black, short, military-style hair.

The suspect vehicle was parked horizontally in front of the store, not in a parking space, and was occupied by a second person who was the getaway driver. The suspect left in a black 2-door vehicle, possibly a Pontiac.
