PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- Calling all hamburger fiends! Chef Ronnie Killen has announced plans to give away thousands of free burgers at his namesake Pearland eatery this Saturday, October 8, a spokesperson confirms.

The meaty surprise is a make-good for a bungled launch back in May during which customers had to wait in long lines. Killen and company have worked over the past several months to improve the dining experience, and now, they're putting their beef where their mouth is.

If you're headed out there, there are a few things to know. Doors open at 11am. It's one free burger per person. You can't take one home for someone else.

There will be no 'line cuts' allowed. And police will be at the restaurant to help direct traffic and make sure everything goes smoothly.

Killen says he will give away 3,000 pounds of beef, which he estimates will equate to approximately 4,500 individual burgers.

The giveaway runs from 11am to closing this Saturday at Killen's Burgers on 2804 South Main Street in Pearland.
