HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston, get ready to beat the heat inside one of your favorite or soon-to-be favorite restaurants.

The much loved and anticipated "Houston Restaurant Weeks" kicks off this Saturday, August 1st at more than 200 food joints across Harris, Montgomery and Galveston counties.

Eyewitness News caught up with the folks over at Sullivan's Steakhouse on Westheimer near the Galleria. They're getting ready for the influx of patrons, the opportunity to give back and the chance to shine bright for new guests.

Last year alone, Houston Restaurant Weeks generated more than $1.6 million in donations to the Houston Food Bank. According to their numbers, they estimated more than $16 million was spent on food, beverages, sales tax and tips. They also reported 290,946 diners placed orders.

Here's how it works: You pick a participating restaurant and ask for the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. Based on your meal price, the restaurant donates on your behalf.
