Hot dog industry responds to allegations of human DNA in some brands

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A day after a report came out stating that some hot dogs contain human DNA, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council is speaking out against the allegations.

Clear Food, a company that genetically tests food products, says genomic analysis technology on 345 hot dog and sausage samples from 75 brands revealed as much as 2 percent of the popular meat product contained human DNA.

But Janet Riley, the president of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, issued the following press release:
