When you go holiday shopping, you may have to put some of those purchased on your credit or store cards. But, they might not always be the greatest deal.

According to a new survey from CreditCards.com, some cards have astronomical interest rates.

The national average for interest rates on store cards is at 23.43 percent versus a regular bank credit card at 15 percent.

Zales and Staples store cards take the cake for high interest rates at 28.99 and 27.99 percent, respectively.

There are some good choices for store brand credit cards offering lower interest rates, including Dillards American Express, which can be as low as 9.99 percent. Nordstrom Visa is available at an interest rate at 10.9 percent.

The bottom line is compared to other cards, two-thirds of retail branded credit cards carry an annual percentage rate of 19.99 percent or higher.

If you don't plan to pay them off quickly, it will cost you a lot of money.
