North Loop reopens following fiery wreck

HOUSTON -- A massive big rig fire burned on the 610 North Loop at Wayside, and it caused a big traffic mess for hours. The fire has since been tapped out and the freeway at one point was shut down in both directions.

It took HazMat crews several hours to clean up the spill. The westbound lanes reopened earlier this afternoon and all eastbound lanes were opened just before 4pm.

Police say the truck blew a tire, which likely led to the crash. There are no reports of injuries and no long-term structural damage.

There is no word of any injuries.
