Get the kids ready for Go Texan Day on a budget
Go Texan Day is Friday, and there's still time to get gear for your little cowboy or cowgirl.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Go Texan Day is Friday, and there's still time to get gear for your little cowboy or cowgirl.

But as quick as they grow, you don't need to spend a lot to look the part.

The Crayons Children Resale shop in southwest Houston says the best way to rope in a deal is on social media.

"If they see me post something, they can call the store for a 2-hour hold, instantly buy it over the phone, or do a layaway over the phone," said store owner Gail Roben.

She keeps the store stocked with Rodeo gear for kids.

"There's always a table full of boots, hats, and scarves. $5.98 for a hat and scarf, and they are ready for the kids to wear right out," Roben said.

There are cowgirl outfits for $19.98, hair bows for $5.98, jeans for $6.98 and bandanas for just $1. But Roben suggests acting fast if you see something you like. In a city as big as Houston, everyone is shopping for Western wear this time of year.

"We put it out as quick as we get it. Last year we ran out of hats. We are making sure we don't go through that again," Roben said.

Over in Montrose, there are always deals at the Texas Junk Company. The store owner shops all year for used boots, and his store is a hit around Rodeo season.

If you're going to check it out, the store is only open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store takes cash and checks only.

If you can't find anything used, one of the best places in town for new Western wear is at the La Estrella Flea Market off US-59.

Inside the market, there are multiple vendors that sell everything from handmade belts and shirts to boots for even the littlest of cowgirls and cowboys.

"We have shirts that start at $15 and up, blue jeans and dress jeans for $15 and up," said Agustin Covarrubias.

Their boots are made from quality and authentic leathers, lizard, and python.
