HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A colorful trend may have you buying your favorite man something other than a tie for Christmas.

Wild and weird socks are making a big splash in men's fashion.

Five years ago, bright-colored and patterned socks caught on in Europe and then spread to the United States.

Now, men's sock sales are a $6 billion industry, and at a high end men's shop like Lucho's in Houston, statement socks are in demand.

The trend has created subscription sock services, where you pay a fee and get a different pair of colorful socks each month.
