Rare pink diamond could break auction records
HONG KONG -- Shining bright like a diamond will come with a hefty price tag if you have an eye for rare jewels.
The record breaking diamond known as the "Pink Star" is heading to the auction block for a second time.
The 59.6 carat stone will be auctioned off by Sotheby's in Hong Kong April 4.
It is the largest known diamond to be rated Vivid Pink by the Geological Institute of America. But Sotheby's said it is still small enough to be worn as a ring.
The auction house estimates the stunning gem could sell for up to $60 million. If it does, that would make it the most expensive diamond of its kind ever sold.
Sotheby's initially tried to sell the diamond for more than $83 million in 2013 but the buyer defaulted on the loan and the stone was returned.
