HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Klein Oak High School student James Nguyen has passed away, just a day after getting his final three wishes fulfilled.

James was born with a syndrome similar to muscular dystrophy. His family says he was expected to live 15 years. Instead, he survived, living to the age of 21.

Twenty days ago, both of James' lungs collapsed. He had been hospitalized for a month, and there were no more treatment options for him.

James listed his final three final wishes. On Wednesday, he had all of those granted. The first was to go home from the hospital, the second to see all of his friends, and the third to meet Houston Rocket Patrick Beverley.

James leaves behind his loving family and friends.
