Family carjacked and robbed by group of masked men

A group of men wearing ski masks robbed and carjacked a family in southwest Houston overnight.

Houston police say adult family members were hanging out in the parking lot of an apartment complex on West Belfort near Bob White Drive around midnight.

Men in ski masks drove up and robbed the family. They stole the family's car keys and took off in their Chevrolet SUV. The masked robbers also stole a cell phone and wallet, according to police.

One of the robbers also fired one shot - hitting one of the family members in the leg. He is expected to survive.

Police are hoping to get a better description of that SUV and the license plate after they talk to the victim in the hospital.

The masked robbers are still on the run.
