Celebrate Lunar New Year and more this weekend with these free events (KTRK)

It's the Lunar New Year, and Houston has plenty of opportunities for you to celebrate the Year of the Rooster!

Check out these free events for the entire family this weekend.

Countdown To Kickoff: Football Family Movie Night, featuring "Rudy"
Head out to The Square at Memorial City for a screening of everyone's favorite underdog movie, "Rudy." The movie begins at 7pm. Complimentary popcorn will be provided, but you'll want to bring out your blankets and lawn chairs for this family favorite.


2017 Lunar New Year Festival
The Chinese Community Center invites you to join them for a free Lunar New Year Festival. Enjoy free parking and a wide variety of activities. The festival runs from 10am to 4pm. The Chinese Community Center is located at 9800 Town Park Drive, in Houston.

Lunar New Year Celebration at MFAH
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston will feature free art-making activities, North America Youth Chinese Orchestra and Golden Dragon Lion dance group in celebration of the Lunar New Year, from 11am-2pm this Saturday.

Super Bowl LIVE at Discovery Green
With more than 750,000 square-feet of activities, Discovery Green will host the free nine-day, family-friendly fan festival Super Bowl Live beginning this weekend, just in time for Super Bowl LI. Check out live music and performances, interactive exhibits, great food and a 90-foot-tall virtual reality trip to Mars.

Frozen Winter Wonderland
From 10am-2pm, head out to Asbury United Methodist Church in Pasadena for their Frozen Winter Wonderland, featuring a story time with the Snow Queen, face painting, games, crafts, raffles and food. Please consider bringing a gently-used coat to be donated to charity.

Asbury United Methodist Church is at 5354 Space Center Boulevard, in Pasadena.

Check out these Houston museums for free
Guests can enjoy free admission to these Houston Museum District locations in Zone 1 this weekend: The Menil Collection, The Rothko Chapel, and the Houston Center for Photography. Enjoy music, photography scavenger hunts, art exhibitions, and more.

Hours for free museum admissions are 11am-7pm.
