HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There's plenty of fun going on around Houston. These are just a few great events.

Texas Crawfish Festival

The Annual Texas Crawfish Festival kicks off this weekend in Old Town Spring. Along with a feast of crawfish, folks can enjoy live music from two different stages, a full carnival and even exotic animals. It's one of the largest festivals in the Houston area and runs through this weekend and the weekend of May 1st. Tickets on zydeco Fridays are $2. General admission is $10 on Saturdays and Sundays.   • Houston Barbecue Festival

    You can also check out the Houston Barbecue Festival at NRG park this Sunday from 1 to 5pm. The food event celebrates the history and uniqueness of Houston barbecue and has a variety of different styles of barbecue from Texas joints for foodies to taste. Tickets are $50 and proceeds go to Vita-Living, Inc., an organization that helps adults living with disabilities. Check out http://houbbq.com for more.

  • After all that food talk, health may be on the mind. The second year of the Get Fit or Get Fat event will be at the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science this Saturday from 6-9pm. Guest speaker and model Cynthia Bailey from the Real Housewives of Atlanta will be the guest speaker. She joins a group of local fitness and nutrition gurus sharing their tips to a healthy lifestyle.     Get Fit or Get Fat

  • Tickets: $10 for kids, $15 for adults
  • For the second year in a row, the greater Katy area will hold Veteran's Family Fun and Resource Day on April 25th. The free event is open to veterans and their families. There will be music, food, exhibits, and games, as well as activities for kids. There will be free enrollment for VA benefits, health screenings, and legal clinic. There will also be 40 nonprofit organizations on site to help veterans. The event starts at 10am and goes to 2pm. For more, katyvetday.eventbrite.com

    2nd Annual Greater Katy Area Veteran's Family Fun & Resource Day

  • 10th Annual Biennial Home Tour and Art Walk

    Finally, check out the 10th Annual Biennial Home Tour and Art Walk on Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Six homes with a variety of architectural style will be on display in the east Montrose area. There will also be food from seven different restaurants and art from eight local studios. Tickets are $15 online in advance; $20 at door. For more, go to www.eastmontrose.org

  • Willow Waterhole Music Fest & Craft Market (FREE!)

    The Willow Waterhole Music Fest & Craft Market is a free event that will include 40 craft vendors, food trucks galore, a mobile photo booth, kids' crafts, face-painting, and 11 hours of free music. It will take place at the South Gazebo at Willow Waterhole Conservation Reserve. The conservancy works in collaboration with Harris County Flood District and the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department to enhance the amenities of the park. The event is free!!!     It's Child Abuse Prevention Awareness month, and for the first ever, ELITE MMA Day will take place Saturday, April 25th. The Jiu Jitsu Tournament and Kick-a-Thon will help raise funds for the ESCAPE Family Resource Center to prevent child abuse and neglect.
