In this week's edition of Free Stuff Friday, holiday events abound for all your family and friends.

Carols by Candlelight in Galveston
If you are in Galveston on Saturday, the Houston Children's Chorus will present 'Carols by Candlelight' at 6pm at the St. Joseph Church.

German Christmas Market & Festival in Tomball
Come dance, shop, enjoy hayrides and Christmas lights at the German Christmas Market and Festival in Tomball. Admission is free and so is the parking. Event begins at 6pm and goes through Sunday.

Gingerbread Build-Off in Downtown Houston

Architecture Center Houston hosts the 7th Annual Gingerbread Build-Off at City Hall's Hermann Square Saturday 10am until 4:30pm. Enjoy a visit with Santa, a kid's zone and choir as part of the festivities.

Lights in the Heights in Woodland Heights
For the 27th year, stroll down the Heights for 'Lights in the Heights.' Event begins from 6 to 9pm on Saturday.

Free Movie: Trading Places
Adults can head to Market Square Park in downtown for a free screening of the classic film "Trading Places." The movie is Friday at 7pm. The Rice Philharmonics will be in the park before the film to share holiday cheer with Christmas caroling.

Christmas in the Park
The fourth annual event includes a dramatic presentation of the Gospel story of Christmas, crafts and cookies, rides on camels, donkeys and ponies, a train ride and a petting zoo. The event is Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Spring Valley Village Park.

Boat Lane Parade in Clear Lake
An annual tradition returns Saturday at 6pm as hundreds of boats take to Clear Lake in a parade featuring bright lights and holiday cheer. The parade runs through the South Shore Harbour Marina to Nassau Bay Lagoon to Galveston Bay.

Holiday Fun at Sugarland Town Square
Three big events all at Sugarland Town Square this weekend. Friday from 11 to 4pm, enjoy the Holiday Dance Showcase, featuring several dance companies from around Houston. Later Friday at 6:30 to 8:30 pm, enjoy 'Holidays in the Plaza,' with evening entertainment provided by Navarro Middle School, George Junior High and Terry High School.

On Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30pm in the Plaza, bring your friends and lawn chairs for a free screening of the movie "Elf."
