NASHVILLE, TN (KTRK) -- Both Jonathan Jackson and Chip Esten are living their dreams each week as they play Avery and Deacon on ABC's hit show 'Nashville.'

They're both musicians, singers, and actors, and this role allows them to use all three talents.

"It's been amazing. I started acting when I was 11, and I started playing music with my brother who is in a band with me, but this is the first project that's brought those two worlds together. To do it on a show like this with incredible musicians, producers, it's just a dream come true," says Jackson.

Esten adds, "This is my country music fantasy camp where they dress me up as a country star, country guitar player, and I get to hang out with people who do this right. I do my very best to not only make Deacon be as authentic as possible, but for me to dig into it as much as I can myself."

Costume Designer Susie DeSanto gives each character his own style on the show.

"Deacon's fashion is authentic, comfortable, and cool without trying," says DeSanto. "It never looks like it's been thought about. Usually a flannel or chambray shirt with a pair of jeans works. We use Imogene and Willie Jeans on him, which a lot of the country stars wear. They fit unbelievably well. And, it's his go-to denim and anything that has a little bit of attitude but in a really unconscious way," she adds.

The comfortable cool look is just fine with Esten.

"It's easy. There's not too much going on here. It can be soft and at home. He's not out trying to impress anybody," says Esten.

Esten likes the looks so much, he goes out and buys them a lot of the time.

"He borrows clothes when he performs all the time. Because he goes, 'I'm just really not as cool as Deacon is,' but he's wrong. He is as cool as Deacon," says DeSanto.

"Avery's fashion is trying to be cool, actually being cool, and looking really good." The inspiration behind Avery's look was the Kings of Leon band. They keep the color palette dark lots of grays, blues, and black. "He wears great-fitted jeans, and a belt that's studded. And obviously the leather jacket is key to his look."

This look works perfectly for Jackson.

"I tend to like similar clothes, as well, and sometimes I come to work, and they don't' know if I've changed in wardrobe or not," Jackson says.

Finally, we couldn't leave the set of Nashville without asking Chip Esten what it's like to be a heart throb? Women love him!

"Well, women love Deacon. It's such a fabulous character, and I knew it when I read the script, actually when I read the name Deacon Clayborne, I was all in," Esten said.

If you've missed any character storylines on Nashville, you can catch up on ABC.com and the Season III DVDs will be available later this year.
