LA MARQUE, TX (KTRK) -- The Texas Education Agency has revoked the accreditation of the La Marque School District and ordered the district closed on July 1st, 2015. If the ruling stands, it may require that the district be annexed by another school district.

In the order released today by the TEA, Commissioner of Education, Michael Williams said that he will assign a conservator to oversee the financial management of the district.

The school district can request an informal review of the decision and if that fails, file a petition with an administrative law Judge.

La Marque ISD is in Galveston County and has a student enrollment of more than 2800 students.
