Loaded gun found on Klein Forest HS campus

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a loaded gun was found at a Klein ISD high school Thursday.

The gun was found at Klein Forest High School. The school's principal sent a note to parents that reads:

    Dear Parents,

    This is Pat Crittendon, principal of Klein Forest High School. This morning campus administration received information that a student might be in possession of a weapon. The Klein ISD police were immediately notified and a search ensued. This message is to inform you that a loaded handgun was found on the Klein Forest campus today. A thorough investigation of this matter is being conducted by the Klein Forest administration and the Klein ISD Police Department.

    Please be assured that the Klein Forest administration will continue to work diligently to keep our school safe and secure for our staff and students. We will exhaust all efforts and resources to maintain a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.

When we reached out to the district, we were told that appropriate disciplinary action had been taken. According to the student code of conduct, the penalty for bringing a gun onto campus is expulsion.
