HISD will distribute cash grants to help teachers replace classroom supplies.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- While the majority of Houston ISD's campuses may be back up and running, some teachers are still missing something very important: classroom supplies.

The district is now accepting applications for cash grants to help teachers replace supplies damaged or destroyed during Hurricane Harvey.

All employees in full-time teaching positions are eligible to apply for the grants, which will be awarded in amounts up to $1,500 to replace "classroom supplies, technology, and other resources that were lost as a direct result of Hurricane Harvey."

HISD says the funds came from philanthropic and corporate donations to the Harvey Relief Fund, which is managed by the HISD Foundation.

HISD is accepting applications until Friday, Sept. 29.
