Deputies are looking for the driver of a dark Volvo SUV after a deadly crash on North Freeway.

HOUSTON -- A 28-year-old man has died after a violent motorcycle crash on the North Freeway.

The deadly crash shut down the northbound lanes of I-45 at Greens Road for hours.

Deputies said the man on the motorcycle, identified as Andre Poindexter, was traveling north alongside an SUV around 2:30 a.m.

Witnesses at the scene told deputies the SUV was swerving in and out of the lanes before the accident.

At one point, the SUV slammed on their brakes, sending the motorcyclist into the back of that vehicle.

The biker was taken to the hospital, but it was too late. He died of his injuries around 3:30 a.m.

The SUV driver stopped initially, with the driver getting out of the vehicle. But deputies said they got back in the vehicle and left.

They are now looking for a black or dark-colored SUV. The driver is described as a black man, likely in his 20s.
