Drinking and driving video
Deputy and receptionist share personal stories of loss to encourage others not to drink and drive.

NEW CANEY, Texas (KTRK) -- Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable Rowdy Hayden is sharing personal messages of loss to hopefully help people not drink and drive on New Year's Eve.

The video features the department's front desk receptionist who lost her daughter, 18-year-old Meagan Denise Crawford, when her vehicle was struck by an impaired driver in 2007.

Deputy Dwayne Morrow shares the story of how his 17-year-old daughter was killed in a car crash in 2005. The driver was more than two times the legal limit at the time of the crash.

One of Constable Hayden's sons is also featured in the video. He was hit head on by a habitual drunk driver in 2015 but survived.

That driver is now serving a life sentence.

The video says nearly 29 people die per day in alcohol related crashes.

Precinct 4 deputies, along with a number of other departments, will be out in full force this weekend patrolling for drunk drivers.

They encourage everyone to plan ahead now to not drink and drive on New Year's Eve.
