Pediatric doctor accused of possessing child porn
A pediatric doctor at MD Anderson is facing federal charges, accused of possession of child pornography

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- A former MD Anderson pediatric oncologist has pleaded guilty to child porn charges.

MD Anderson pediatric oncologist Dennis Hughes, 49, pleaded guilty to charges of receipt, access with intent to view and possession of child pornography. He now faces at least five years in prison and could pay up to $250,000 in fines.

Hughes was arrested in June after a law enforcement crackdown on child pornography linked an IP address to the former doctor's home in Pearland. During a warrant execution at his home, authorities found 329 videos and nearly 2,700 photos depicting child porn.

Hughes' sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 1. Once he's released from prison, he could face a maximum of life on supervised release and would also be required to register as a sex offender.
