Deer Park ISD provides iPads to students for advanced educational opportunities
DEER PARK, TX -- Students in today's schools can be seen carrying some sort of electronic device and not the books, paper, and pens used by previous generations. They are digital learners, and this is how they are learning in school, according to Deer Park ISD Chief Technology Officer Kari Murphy.
"Today's students see technology as vital to their everyday life," Murphy said. "Textbooks are no longer glue and paper; they are now electronic and interactive. The Apple iPad is the chosen tool for accessing eBooks and digital resources to facilitate the learning inside and outside the classroom. By placing iPads in the hands of students and teachers, we are empowering them to expand the teaching and learning."
About 1,040 iPads were distributed to seventh-graders during the first week of school as part of Deer Park ISD's new initiative, Empower 1:1.
