HOUSTON (KTRK) -- More than 100 people attended a vigil Friday night for two sisters killed in a car crash while coming back from Spring Break in Corpus Christi.
Bellaire High School senior 17-year-old Jade Robinson, her 19-year-old sister, Brianna Robinson, and former Bellaire student, 18-year-old Brittanie Johnson, were all killed. Lamar High School Senior Shelby Coleman remains in the hospital.
DPS officials believe the driver was distracted while using her cell phone as a GPS device.
Now their friends are coming together, even organizing charity events to help families pay for funeral and medical expenses.
"This is just so unexpected. I mean, since it happened, I just wanted to do something just to make her proud because I always told her I wanted to do something that was big that people would remember me for," said close friend Deon'te Lagway about Jade Robinson.
They will be holding a charity basketball game on Tuesday evening from 5pm-8pm at Butler Fieldhouse. You can get tickets or make donations at Bellaire High School.
