Pastor Kevin Pigg with Crossbridge Christian Church is one of those people. Monday, he began a 24-mile walk at 6:45am. Pigg says he's walking the perimeter of the neighborhood in zip code is 77095, where Goforth was allegedly murdered. Pigg estimates the walk will take him ten hours and he plans to pray the whole time.

"Their hearts are breaking over this tragedy and I'm praying for their protection and for their peace," said Pigg. "I'm praying for our boys in blue, their protection and their peace."

He has completed this walk four times in the past year, each time praying for the community.

In Montgomery County, Judge Craig Doyal will hold a service at First Baptist Church Wednesday evening called "Prayer for Police Community Event."

"Now especially, in the wake of the brutal murder of Deputy Goforth, we need to come together to pray and show our support for local law enforcement officers," said Doyal in a statement.

"We look forward to hosting whoever is going to be here to lift these men and women up in prayer," said Pastor Alan Armstrong with First Baptist Church.

Hundreds of people are expected to show up for the event being held from 5:15 to 6pm.

"Our parking lot will be full of police vehicles and there will be some individuals out there praying over those vehicles even during the event and after. We encourage even if you can't make it at 5:15, come out and pray for a police officer before they go on their shift at the end of the evening," Armstrong said.

First Baptist Church is located at 600 North Main Street in Conroe.

The funeral for Deputy Goforth will happen Friday at Second Baptist Church on Voss Road. Services will start at 11am.
