Credit card skimmers found on convenience store gas pumps in Pasadena
PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) -- Drivers who may have filled up at a convenience store gas pump in Pasadena may want to keep a close eye on their credit card accounts.
Over the weekend, a manager at the Seller's Brothers/Valero Convenience Store located at 10900 Red Bluff Road at Bay Area Boulevard performed a daily inspection on the gas pumps and found a key pad appeared to have been damaged. She put in a work order for a technician to repair the pump.
On Tuesday, that technician reportedly realized the key pad had been pried open and a "skimming" device had been installed inside the gas pump. After checking the other pumps, the service tech found a total of seven devices had been installed inside the gas pumps. The manager told Pasadena police she is not sure how long these devices had been inside the gas pumps before being discovered.
According to police, the skimming devices were found in pumps number 1 and 11-16.
Skimming devices are installed for the purpose of capturing credit and debit card information, including PIN numbers.
Customers who've been to this location recently and paid at the pump are encouraged to contact their financial institution and cancel their debit or credit card, as well as monitor their account for any unauthorized charges.

Callers who wish to remain anonymous should contact Crime Stoppers. Information provided by the caller to Crime Stoppers leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) is eligible for a cash reward up to $5000.
