Man arrested, 2 children rescued in SWAT standoff
A SWAT standoff has ended with the arrest of a barricaded man in southwest Houston.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man was arrested after he barricaded himself inside an apartment with his two children in southwest Houston.

Police were called to a residence on Harbor Town Drive at Waldo Street after the man and his common law wife got into a fight.

The woman was able to get away from him, leaving a 1-year-old and 3-year-old child behind with the man.

Police say he threatened to do harm to the children and then himself, and that is when the SWAT team was called to the scene.

Shortly before 3am, the SWAT team made entry into the home and took the suspect into custody. No one was injured during the standoff, police say.

The children are now safe and back with the mother, and the man is charged with felony domestic assault.
