Police in Australia say an 8-year-old boy was imprisoned in a shed in an illegal pot farm

Elands, Australia (KTRK) -- An 8-year-old boy was found locked in a tin shed on an illegal pot farm in Australia.

Police were carrying out a drug raid on the property when they found the boy who appeared to have been held in the shed for about three weeks.

The home had an elaborate hydroponic pot farm hidden underground beneath a wooden deck. The boy was held inside a makeshift cell inside a shed that had just a bed, stool and a bucket, according to a detective. Authorities point out the boy was held in often extreme heat.

The boy and his three siblings - aged 12 months to 9 years old - are now being cared for by authorities.

Two men and a woman are in police custody, facing drug charges as well as charges for detaining a person for financial advantage and failure to provide necessities for life. Police are investigating others known to have stayed at the farm.
