No injuries after car plows into OB/GYN office in Friendswood

FRIENDSWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- People were evacuated from a Friendswood building after a car blew a red light and crashed into it.

Around noon, police received a report about a reckless driver heading southbound on Melody lane. Soon after, they were notified that a car had plowed into the office of an OB/GYN private practice at Melody and FM 2351.

No one inside the private practice was injured because it was lunch time. The woman behind the wheel of the car was transported to Clear Lake Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was removed it this afternoon. Workers used lumber to shore up the building. It's unclear how long before the building can be fully repaired and the doctor's office can reopen. Neighboring businesses were evacuated as a precaution.

Police say they found a number of prescription medications inside the driver's vehicle. She has consented to a blood test. The outcome of the blood test will determine whether the driver faces any charges.
