Buddhists come to aid of officers hit by Harvey
The Tzu Chi Foundation announced it was giving out cash to help officers affected by Harvey.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- While many people evacuated to higher ground during Harvey, first responders put their own lives on the line to save others during the hurricane.

Today, the Tzu Chi Foundation showed thanks by presenting $600 cash cards to the Houston Police Department.

The cards are specifically for officers whose own homes were damaged during the storm.

The Tzu Chi Foundation is a Buddhist-inspired organization.

Tzu Chi leaders say it's important to take care of those who are taking care of the community.
