3rd annual Houston Black Heritage Fest planned this weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Celebrate the third annual Black Heritage Music and Arts festival on Saturday, Sep. 30, with an array of family oriented activities and live musical performances. All events will be centered in Downtown Houston at Discovery Green.

The festival kicks off at 10 a.m. with a health and wellness village sponsored by Harris County Public Health.

From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. parents can bring their kids to the interactive youth zone. Children can paint, dance, and play games.

Tamia, Elle Varner, Eric Benet and other special guest will lead performances from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The event will also include live speakers, black exhibits, artist, spoken word and crafts people, both locally and nationally.

A portion of the festivals proceeds will go toward helping victims of Hurricane Harvey.
