How much to park at Beyonce and Jay Z concert?
Thousands of local music fans are downtown for one of the year's biggest concerts, but if they want to park close, they may need to stop by an ATM

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Thousands of local music fans downtown for one of the most anticipated concerts of the year. It's Beyonce and Jay Z's On the Run tour. But what got a lot of people talking is the price of parking -- fans are having to shell out up to $80 to park in one lot at Minute Maid Park.

According to the Astros, the $80 parking is just at the Diamond Club premium lot and that most other options are between $40 and $50, and we've seen at least one at $60.

"Parking is a big deal," one fan said.

A senior Astros official said they are still cheaper than their competitors, but we spoke to many people who just won't pay $80 to park.

"We are crazy for paying $50, but they are mad if they are paying $80," fan Kmit Kumar said.

"I think $80 to park is way too expensive," fan Lamesa Childs said.

Both Beyonce and Jay-Z have gotten rave reviews for the show. It sold out here in Houston very fast, but most fans we spoke with say they won't park there for $80, that they'll walk instead if they have to.

The Astros said most of the $80 parking spot were for VIP fans and were included with their tickets. Others were able to buy their parking passes months ago, so the prices Friday, the Astros rep said, is simply supply and demand.
