Baytown sewer overflows due to heavy rains

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The city of Baytown has reported that sewer overflow is increasing due to this week's heavy rain.



Residents are complaining of sewage overflow and it has become a noticeable problem.



All appropriate local government officials have been notified and clean-up activities of the overflow area are underway and will be continued until the affected area is clean and completely disinfected.



The overflows listed below do not affect the Baytown's fresh water supply.



Cedar Bayou: a combined total of 609,500 gallons.

Black Duck Bay: a combined total of 348,125 gallons.

Burnett Bay: a combined total of 149, 220 gallons

The city is asking that anyone who purchase water from a public water supply may contact their water supply distributer (City of Baytown) to determine if the water is safe for personal use. As a precaution, the public should avoid all contact with waste material, soil, or water in the area potentially affected by the spill. If the public comes into contact with waste material, soil or water potentially affected by the spill, they should bathe and wash clothes thoroughly as soon as possible.
