Man shot during suspected attempted robbery in Midtown

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is in the hospital after he was shot during a suspected attempted robbery in the Midtown area.

The victim and a woman were leaving a parking area on McGowen near the light rail train station area when they noticed two suspicious people approaching them.

The couple went back to the vehicle and got inside to try and get away, but the two people following them then opened fire. One bullet went through driver's side door and struck the driver in the abdominal area.

The victim still managed to drive the vehicle to a club of Milam and Dennis where the couple flagged down a security guard who called 911.

The driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
