Employee shot several times during armed robbery of pharmacy in southwest Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person has been injured in a robbery at a pharmacy in southwest Houston.

Houston police say that at about 12:45pm, two suspects held up the Artemis Pharmacy in the 9600 block of Court Glen Drive.

An employee went outside the pharmacy for a smoke break. Those two men were watching her and when she was done smoking, they followed her back inside.

Police say those two armed men forced that employee into the backroom of Artemis Pharmacy, where the second employee was. Police say that second employee tried to stop the two men, and that's when they opened fire on her. She was shot several times in the face and torso and was taken to Ben Taub Hospital.

Police say those two men took a few hundred dollars, both employees' purses, a gun they kept at the pharmacy and several boxes of drugs, including Xanax.

A day care worker from next door says she called 911 when the pharmacy tech rushed over and told her someone had been shot.

"She was crying. She was just screaming for help," said the neighboring worker. "We just called 911 and walked over there with her to check on the other lady because she was saying that she had been shot."

"It seemed from the statements we've gathered, it seems like they knew what drugs they were after," said Officer Alex Carmona with the HPD Westside Robbery Division.

Police say those two men were not wearing masks and escaped in a red car. They also said those men seemed to know exactly what kind of drugs they were looking for.
