It's Free Stuff Friday!

HOUSTON

Houston Pilates and yoga studio The Good Space is gearing up for Pilates Day 2014 and will celebrate by hosting parties and workshops and free classes Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. On Friday, there will be a free Joe's Classical Mat Class at 6 p.m. at The Good Space. Saturday the celebration moves to Discovery Green where attendees can get some fresh air with a free outdoor class at 11 a.m.

Orvis is looking to get the whole family involved with its free Fly Fishing 101 classes. On Saturday, May 3 Orvis stores in Houston and The Woodlands will hold the clinics for those of all ages. Classes could fill up, so contact the store closest to you to reserve your spot.

Parents of little book worms -- you can sign your child up for the Junie B. Jones Reading Club. Once you register, your child will receive a free starter set including "Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus", the first book in the New York Times bestselling series. They will also send and a Junie B. checklist bookmark in the kit.

Now that it's the beginning of the month, there's free admission to the Houston Zoo! The zoo will be completely free to all guests on Tuesday, May 6 from 2 p.m. until close.

May the 4th be with you -- Sunday, May 4 is a holiday for Star Wars fans, and the Disney Store is helping you celebrate. The first 100 guests to visit the Disney Store on May 4 will start their epic adventure with a free Star Wars Pin. Plus, younglings are invited to learn the Ways of the Force at 12:30 p.m.

Over at Discovery Green, there will be a sneak peak at the Art Car Parade. On Thursday, May 8 come out and see the work of all the "cartists" on display. There will also be a free UHD concert that night. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and pack a picnic to enjoy two live bands. Bill Kirchen and Too Much Fun, and The Hollisters will both take the stage. The night at Discovery Green starts at 6 p.m., with the first act taking the stage at 6:30 p.m.

This weekend little ones can build a flower planter just in time for Mother's Day at Home Depot's Free Kids Workshops. Children ages 5-12 will get to take part in the hands-on activity and will receive an apron, certificate, and pin upon completion. Register online to reserve a spot at the location nearest you.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a free concert at Miller Outdoor Theater. Sonex, a group of young Mexican artists, will take the stage Sunday, May 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets are required for the concert, but you can get them for free at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. If there are still tickets available, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to hand out the remaining tickets.

This weekend MenilFest will take place in the Menil lawns. It's a free family that has art, music, literature, kids crafts, food trucks, and a lot of fun. The event takes place Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and there are family-friendly activities planned all day.

Saturday, May 3 is Free Comic Book Day. Six Houston-area comic book stores are participating by giving away comic books free to anyone who comes into their stores. Check with your local comic book shop for details and activities.
