Today is April 15, the deadline to get your taxes filed. The IRS now says around 90 percent of taxpayers use the computer and Internet to file their taxes.

The post office at 401 Franklin Street will be collecting returns and postmarking them up until midnight tonight. It is the only location that will have extended hours in Harris County for taxpayers.

The window counter inside will be open until 8pm for those needing stamps. After that, you will have to get stamps from the machine in the lobby.

But employees will be in the parking lot until midnight taking returns from those who are mailing them to the IRS. Even though e?filing is extremely popular, the post office at 401 Franklin St. is taking mail.

Last year, the post office said it would no longer keep midnight hours, but they had to stay open anyway and considered it a lesson learned.

"We did have a lot of filers come in late so we did ended up extending the collection portion until midnight. So this year we will collect until midnight and we will have our full-service window open until 8pm," said Dionne Montague with USPS.

If you are dropping your taxes in a blue box, check the final pick up time because you do not want to miss out on the April 15 postmark.
