The fire started around 4am at the home on Summer Brook Court at Summer Creek Drive in the Shadow Creek subdivision.
A neighbor told authorities they heard gunshots, looked outside and saw flames coming from the attic of the home. When authorities arrived, they found a deceased black male next to the home. There was a weapon recovered from the scene.
Authorities haven't released the cause of death of the victim or the identity, pending notification of the next of kin.
Officials say no one else was located in or near the two-story residence. An investigation is underway.
