Two suspected illegal gambling operations raided in north Houston

Both game rooms were within feet of each other on Airline near the North Freeway. Deputy constables started the raid on both businesses around 10pm Saturday.

Eyewitness News was allowed inside as deputy constables shut down the machines and hauled several people away in handcuffs. The constable says game rooms are a breeding ground for crime and says he has been on a mission to put the game rooms out of business.

"Criminals target these locations because they know people here have money and a lot of them stage people on the inside to show the winners and then they follow the winners out and actually rob them at gunpoint," Pct. 1 Constable Alan Rosen said. "So business have complained out it, neighbors have complained about it, and we're doing something about it."

Deputy constables arrested five people and say the facilities had more than 200 illegal machines.
