Game room security guard fatally shot in southwest Houston

HOUSTON

Investigators say four suspects were inside the game room, on the machines, acting like regular customers until 12:30pm Thursday. That's when police say they began arguing and struggling with the security guard.

"During that struggle the security guard was shot in the head," said HPD Sgt. Anthony Versluis. "The security guard transported to the hospital, where he died."

The suspects, three men and one woman, ran out of the game room and took off in a red car. Alison Xenakis was next door when the shooting happened.

"I think it's crazy," she said. "I can't believe it just happened. I just went in to pay my bill. She just told me they had killed him."

Houston police say the security guard didn't stand much of a chance.

"It's not good, it's not good," Sgt. Versluis said. "When you're shot in the head, it's never good."

Investigators say the security guard's gun is missing, but they are uncertain if anything else was taken from the game room. The facility does have security cameras. Reviewing the footage will be a top priority. Meanwhile, neighboring businesses are worried, and one restaurant closed early.

Many say they see the security guard every day, and they want the suspects caught.

"Too close to home, number one, number 2, loss of life, maybe," said TJ, at a neighboring business. "You don't know what is going to happen and it could happen anywhere."

There are only minimal details on the suspects. One is described as having a mohawk, and the getaway car is believed to be red in color. Investigators hope the surveillance camera video might provide more details.
